Audio Technica AT-LP120 Review

The Rundown

The AT-LP120 is kind of a “clone” to the now discontinued Technics 1200 Turntables. They look and feel almost identical and can be bought for $200 each.

They are in my opinion the best Turntables on the market right now.

Audio Technica AT-LP120 Review

The build quality of the AT-Lp120s are great, they are 23.5lbs and they are made of a plastic/polymer material on top and ABS on the bottom. The tonearm is an all metal assembly but is not as good as the ones on the Technics but it offers anti-skate with vertical height adjustments, it performs great and is easy to set up.

The pitch slider is built well, it is made of plastic but looks like metal. The quartz lock and pitch range button are plastic too. There is a button that allows you to change the direction of the platter, and a LED light to show you which way its spinning.

The platters are sturdy and are aluminum, its comes with a metal 45 adapter. In the upper right corner there is a place to store spares cartridges as well.

When it comes to performance the Audio Technica AT-LP120s-USB turntables are an affordable well built turntable that compares to even the higher end models.

It has a direct drive motor which is rated at 1.6kg-cm. Which is higher than the Technics.

Start and Stop functions work like the Technincs

The AT-LP120s is a good turntable for you DJs on a budget. Its user friendly and comes with some nice features you dont get on the Technics. It comes with a mounted cartridge, clear cover, and slip mats. It has permanent RCAs attached that some might not like.

While they may not be exactly the same as the 1200s, they are a good budget friendly alternative.
